About Me:
My name is Molly and I am a New York State certified early childhood education teacher, (Birth-Grade 2.) I earned both my bachelors and masters degree from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. My masters degree is in literacy and I am a certified Reading Specialist for grades K - 12.
After finishing my degrees, I came home to Westchester County, NY and taught as a lead teacher in a UPK classroom through the Department of Education in New York City for two years. I, then, became a substitute teacher for elementary levels in the Pelham Union Free School District as well as New Rochelle City School District. During the hybrid learning model for the 2020/2021 academic school year, I accepted two First Grade leave replacement teaching positions for two spectacular and wonderful First Grade classes in the Pelham Union Free School District. Currently, I am a Kindergarten teacher at Our Lady of Refuge.
I am passionate about working with and teaching young children. All students are capable of learning, and it is our job as educators to help students reach their highest potential and to succeed. It is also our job as educators to teach students about respect and equality in the classroom. My philosophy of education is based on a box of crayons. A box of crayons serves as my metaphor when it comes to my students. Each hue holds its own unique characteristics, like students in my classroom. Each child comes from a different cultural background and each individual has different gifts and talents. All of the students that I have had the privilege to work with have helped me gather my value of what my passion is; to change the lives of students and help them learn, think and grow.
